St Joseph's CBSE - A Sweet Ending to a New Beginning - Class 10th Graduation Day

At St. Joseph's School, graduation day was a time for celebration, memories, and reflections as the proud valedictorians of 2022–2023 marched forth with hopes and a plethora of opportunities the world has to offer, keeping with the day's theme "Row into the deep."

The Graduation programme commenced with a procession led by the dignitaries, followed by the valedictorians. The school song was sung and God’s Blessings were invoked through a beautiful prayer service and a prayer dance.

The dignitaries lit the lamp to start the celebration, which was then followed by a special prayer session and prayer dance.

The Principal Rev Fr Rohan D Almeida welcomed the gathering and also addressed the Valedictorians with a lovely message. 

Thereafter, the time came for the student leader Joseph Charanghat to lay down the office and transfer it to the student leader of this academic year Joseph Clifford.

An international athlete Mr. Arjun Devaiah Theethamada, and CEO of Abhimanyu Academy, was the chief guest An international athlete was the chief guest of the day who encouraged and motivated our young graduates to leave a lasting impression on the world in a way that causes people to Google them.

In addition, he asserted that in life, character counts more than appearance or status.

The event's honorary guests were Mr. Arunachalam Karthik the head of I- Move Representation for India and Mr Jens Kayser Project Director Germany.

The rector Rev Fr Joseph Dsouza presided over the function.

A special number, ‘Follow the stars’ was rendered by the outgoing students of class X  in their melodious voices which pierced through the night air.

All of the young valedictorians received mementos, and the outstanding graduating students received awards of excellence.

The traditional and solemn ceremony of passing the light signalled the end of this momentous evening.

The hats whirled skyward carried by bright new hopes and propelled by big daring dreams. 

LEAP: Training for Jesuit School Principals in Bengaluru

January 22, 2023: Prerana, Bengaluru 

LEAP: Leadership Enhancement and Animation Programme was held at Prerana, Ignatian Spirituality centre Bengaluru for the Jesuit School Principals and Managers of Southern Jesuit Provinces (Kerala, Karnataka, Madurai, Chennai and Andhra) from 19th January to 22nd of January 2023.

Fr Jossie D'Mello, SJ, the Vice-Provincial of Karnataka Jesuit Province in his inaugural address highlighted the role of Jesuit Institutions in the VUCA world (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity). He also highlighted the aspect of IPP (Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm) in today's context as part of the Jesuit identity.

Fr John Ravi, SJ, Secretary, South Asian Jesuit Conference Secretariat for School Education along with Fr John Kennedy, Fr Henry Saldanha, Fr Jossie Lobo, Dr Vincent, Mr Mark D'Souza, Mr Britto and Fr Rohan D'Almeida (co-ordinator) conducted this four-day Programme.  

Day One was focused at Ignatian leadership; Day Two was on Transformational Leadership; Day Three was on Pedagogical leadership; Day Four was on organizational leadership. There were 31 participants from the five Southern Jesuit Provinces. As part of the programme, the participants also visited SJU (St Joseph's University Campus), St Joseph's Boys School, Jesuit Nivas, and St Joseph's Indian Institutions, Bengaluru.

The participants felt that the whole programme was well organized, very informative, transforming and rejuvenating. It was a blend of both theory and practicals.  Participants enjoyed the stay and the great hospitality at Prerana which was arranged by Fr Anthony Joseph, Rector, Mount St Joseph and Fr Prashanth D'Souza, Director of Prerana, Bengaluru.

“Spheres of Life with NAVARASA”

16 January 2023, St Joseph's Indian Institutions Campus, Bengaluru

St. Joseph’s Indian Primary School celebrated its annual day on 12 January 2023 at the school grounds. “Spheres of Life with NAVARASA,’ was the theme of the annual day celebration.  Mr. N.A. Haris, MLA of Shanthinagar Constituency was the chief guest of the programme. Mr. R. Sampath Kumar, CEO- Pool Masters and Waterscapes Pvt. Ltd. and alumnus of St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions, was the guest of honour. Fr. Joseph D’Souza SJ, the Rector of St. Joseph’s Indian Institutions presided over the function. 

The programme began with a prayer dance, which highlighted unity among all religions. The chief guest along with other dignitaries lit the lamp. The chief guest and the guest of honour were felicitated for their service towards humankind. 

The chief guest, Mr. N.A. Haris, in his address, appreciated the services of Jesuit fathers and the sisters in the field of education. He appreciated the teachers for their sacrifice in shaping the minds of the students. He also spoke of the importance of education in independent India. He said, “India is not really free until every Indian is educated and our education should make us good human beings, where humanity prevails over all the other divisions.”

The achievers of the academic year were rewarded. It was followed by the annual report by the headmistress Sr Jane Benita. Ms. Mary Usha, the staff co-ordinator proposed the vote of thanks. This was followed by a mind-blowing performances by the little children. 

 

The performances were confluence of the nine rasas like Shringara (love), Hasya (laughter), Karuna (sorrow), Raudra (anger), Veera (heroism), Bhayanaka (fear), Bibhatsa (disgust), Adbutha (wonder), Shantha (peace). 

There were different forms of dances and dramas, which showcased the diverse talents of our students. The programme ended with a grand finale, where the students and staff of the entire school performed on the stage. All who attended well organized maticulous programme enjoyed it to the brim. In fact, it was indeed, a memorable day!

Celebration of Constitution day at Loyola Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mundgod

National Constitution Day -2022 was celebrated with much fervour at Loyola Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mundgod. On this occasion, as an important part of the celebration, the Preamble of the Indian Constitution was recited by all the students at 11.00 am. A total of 502 students, 22 teaching faculty and 11 non-teaching faculty participated in honouring this great event in the history of Independent India. 

Fr. Harry Terry SJ, an advocate and a keynote speaker on the occasion addressed the students of LKV highlighting the importance of the constitution and the meaning of the preamble. He explained in detail the key concepts of the preamble and its objective and need in the present context. He emphasized that we need good citizens to uphold the high ideals enshrined in the constitution and stated that constitution is a sacred book as it is governed by the rule of law and not by the rule of an individual. 

As a concluding remark, he also encouraged the students to pursue studies in the field of law so as to understand the breadth and weight of the constitution in a deeper manner. Earlier, the teaching faculty conducted a meaningful prayer service highlighting the importance of the constitutional values. 

The students of class VII brought out the key features of the constitution through a role play and a skit. A short biography of Fr. Jerome D’Souza SJ was read out and the contribution of the Jesuit in the drafting of the constitution was highlighted. Some of the students presented the interesting facts about the constitution and mesmerized the audience with the declamation. 

The Principal, Rev. Fr. Melvin Lobo encouraged the students to live by the ideals of the constitution and asked them to make constitution a way of life. Ms Vaishnavi of class 7 welcomed the gathering and Ms Kelvina of class 7 proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Sakshi Kashi of class 5 compered. The entire event was meticulously organized by Mr. Alwyn (social studies teacher). 

Indian Constitution Day Celebration in St Joseph's school CBSE

Bengaluru, November 26, 2022: Indian Constitution Day also known as Samvidhan Divas is celebrated on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution. 

St Joseph's School celebrated this day by organizing a special assembly for the students. 

The program began with a prayer for the prosperity and well-being of every citizen of this great nation. 

Principal Fr Rohan D' Almeida, Chief Guest Ms Sangeeta Ravindranath and Co-ordinators paid a floral homage to the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. Significance of the day was shared with the students followed by a recitation of the Preamble by everyone present at the event. The Principal, Fr Rohan D'Almeida addressed the gathering by appreciating and acknowledging the hard work of the framers of the Indian Constitution. 

A mesmerizing song of unity was sung by the school choir and a fabulous dance was performed by the students of classes 6 & 7 to depict the unity in diversity in India.

The program concluded by a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

Loyola School Sindagi organises 'Loyola Kite Festival'

In order to inspire students and to allow them to be rejuvenated apart from academics, Kite Festival was organised on October 18, 2022 at school grounds, Sindagi.

Dr Vinaya Aravind Hugar, MBBS, KAS, who Obtained 9th Rank in KAS exam 2021was the chief guest. Sr Mary Rita, Headmistress of JMJ school, Devarippargi was the guest of honour. Fr Alwyn D Souza presided over the event. 

Several competitions were organised for students in this mega festival which included colouring the kite, kite making, theme kite, creative Kite and Kite flying. Winners were awarded with attractive prizes. Students were thrilled to participate in the event.

In India The Society of Jesus has founded 118 Primary & Middle Schools, 149 High Schools,58 University Colleges, 22 Technical Institutes and 16 Business Administrations Institutes with 11,525 teachers, educating 3,34,538 students, belonging to every social class, community and linguistic group. These Institutions are part of the Catholic Church's effort to share in the country's educational undertaking. The Jesuit Schools and Colleges aims at the integral, personal formation of youth, to accomplish this, special efforts are made:

To help the students to become mature, spiritually-oriented men and women of character;

This blog tries to highlight the Educational endeavours undertaken by the Karnataka Jesuit Secondary Education Sector under the able leadership of Fr Jerome Stanislaus D’Souza. We have 43 institutions (Primary, High schools and PU colleges) & 28,205 students studying in Secondary Education sector. We have 1400 staff collaborating with us in imparting knowledge to the students.

Holy Angels’ School, Pandithahalli is a new venture of the Karnataka Jesuit Educational Society. It focuses on the education of the less privileged and marginalised groups. The school is reaching out to the educational needs of more than fifty villages in and around Malavalli Taluka of Mandya District.

Malavalli Taluk in Mandya District is a backward area of the district. The taluk headquarter is 100 kms away from Bangalore. It is dry and depends upon rain for its agriculture activities. The taulk consists of mostly Dalit communities like, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The villages are educationally backward and have poor sanitary and health services. 

Holy Angels’s School aims to provide integral formation of every student i.e. to form professionally competent, morally upright, culturally enriched, spiritually alive and socially conscious persons. Students enrolled here are expected to develop right attitudes towards life with appropriate skills and high competence.

St. Aloysius Pre-University College, Harihar is a religious minority Institution run by the Mangalore Jesuit Educational Society primarily for the education of the Catholic youth which is also at the service of others without any distinction of caste, creed or culture.
