Celebration of Constitution day at Loyola Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mundgod

National Constitution Day -2022 was celebrated with much fervour at Loyola Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mundgod. On this occasion, as an important part of the celebration, the Preamble of the Indian Constitution was recited by all the students at 11.00 am. A total of 502 students, 22 teaching faculty and 11 non-teaching faculty participated in honouring this great event in the history of Independent India. 

Fr. Harry Terry SJ, an advocate and a keynote speaker on the occasion addressed the students of LKV highlighting the importance of the constitution and the meaning of the preamble. He explained in detail the key concepts of the preamble and its objective and need in the present context. He emphasized that we need good citizens to uphold the high ideals enshrined in the constitution and stated that constitution is a sacred book as it is governed by the rule of law and not by the rule of an individual. 

As a concluding remark, he also encouraged the students to pursue studies in the field of law so as to understand the breadth and weight of the constitution in a deeper manner. Earlier, the teaching faculty conducted a meaningful prayer service highlighting the importance of the constitutional values. 

The students of class VII brought out the key features of the constitution through a role play and a skit. A short biography of Fr. Jerome D’Souza SJ was read out and the contribution of the Jesuit in the drafting of the constitution was highlighted. Some of the students presented the interesting facts about the constitution and mesmerized the audience with the declamation. 

The Principal, Rev. Fr. Melvin Lobo encouraged the students to live by the ideals of the constitution and asked them to make constitution a way of life. Ms Vaishnavi of class 7 welcomed the gathering and Ms Kelvina of class 7 proposed the vote of thanks. Ms Sakshi Kashi of class 5 compered. The entire event was meticulously organized by Mr. Alwyn (social studies teacher).
