SRUJANA 2023 - Inter School Debate and Elocution Competition organized at Loyola School CBSE Sindagi

Loyola School CBSE Sindagi organized an Inter-school Debate and Elocution competition on August 26, 2023. Seven schools from Vijayapura district participated.

Elocution dealt with the topic – “Impact of mobile phones on present generation,” while the debate competition revolved around the Benefits of the Uniform Civil Code is beneficial for India.

The aim of organizing the debate and elocution competition was to hone the public speaking skills of students, increase critical thinking, and sharpen the art of articulation of their thoughts and opinions.

Debate was organized by the High School level while elocution was organized for higher primary.

The Debate consisted of three rounds – the first being a presentation for 2 minutes, the second round of rebuttal for 1 minute and the third round to provide evidence for the arguments for and against.

On the other hand, Elocution witnessed views from the younger generation of kids on the on the impact of mobiles. The competition witnessed diverse views from the perspective of students.

The event was judged by Mrs. Shahimol T Robin Educationalist and Academic co-ordinator of Vivek International School, Mrs Jenifer, and Rev Fr. Jeevan D'Souza SJ.

The valedictory programme witnessed great enthusiasm as winners were declared. Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ, Principal thanked the schools for coming for the event. Sr Sophia Pereira, Vice Principal, graced the occasion. Ms Swity and Mrs Anita the co-ordinators steered the event with the help of student volunteers.

Elocution

1st place- Puneet (Mathalaxmi School, Sindagi)

2nd place- Nuzhat Fatima (Mathalaxmi School, Sindagi)

3rd place- M D Farhan (Loyola School CBSE, Sindagi)

Debate

Best Debator ‘FOR’ - Vijayalaxmi (Loyola School CBSE, Sindagi)

Runner up - Tanuja (Nirmalaya School, Almel)

Best Debator ‘AGAINST’ - Arshiya (Loyola English Medium School, Vjayapur)

Runner up - Ishaan (Loyola School CBSE, Sindagi)

These Institutions are part of the Catholic Church's effort to share in the country's educational undertaking. The Jesuit Schools and Colleges aims at the integral, personal formation of youth, to accomplish this, special efforts are made:

To help the students to become mature, spiritually-oriented men and women of character;

• To encourage them continuously to strive after excellence in every fields;

• To value and judiciously use their freedom;

• To be clear and firm on principles and courageous in action;

• To be unselfish in the service of their fellowmen; and

• To become agents of needed social change in their country.

The Jesuit Schools and Colleges thus aims at making its own contribution towards a transformation of the present-day social condition so that principles of social justice, equality of opportunity, genuine freedom, and respect for religious and moral values, enshrined in the constitution of India, may prevail, and the possibility of living a fully human existence may be available to all.

This blog tries to highlight the Educational endeavours undertaken by the Karnataka Jesuit Secondary Education Sector under the able leadership of Fr Jerome Stanislaus D’Souza. We have 43 institutions (Primary, High schools and PU colleges) & 28,205 students studying in Secondary Education sector. We have 1400 staff collaborating with us in imparting knowledge to the students.
